Trinity College Dublin Students’ Union (TCDSU) Council has voted to implement a new Ethnic Minorities Officers role. Dipo Adebisi was later elected to the position, which will sit on the SU’s Union Forum.

The motion, which was proposed by TCDSU President Kieran McNulty and seconded by Welfare Officer, Aoibhinn Loughlin, noted the “diversity of the Trinity population and the SU’s commitment to inclusivity and empowerment”.

Speaking in favour of the motion, Adebisi, a Senior Freshman Engineering student, said the motion was proposed “to encourage more ethnicities to take a more active role in societies in college. This will be good for the societies who will have new ideas in terms of events and organisational concepts”.
