Paul Weller and New Order to play Trinity Summer Series

The acts were announced by MCD this morning

Paul Weller and New Order have been the first acts announced to play at this year’s Summer Series at Trinity.

Seven concerts will be held in Trinity as part of the Summer Series which will run from Monday, July 1 to Sunday, July 7.

Weller is an English musician who rose to prominence with punk rock band, The Jam. Last year marked the 40th anniversary of the band’s first album, In The City. Now performing as a solo artist, Weller sold out three shows at the Olympia in February. Weller will play on the Thursday night of the Series.

New Order will close the series on Sunday, July 7. The band formed from the rock band Joy Division following the death of vocalist, Ian Curtis, in 1980.

2019 marks the third year of the Summer Series. Previous acts have included Two Door Cinema Club and Alt-J in 2017, and Rag’n’Bone Man in 2018.

Acting Head of Central Events at Trinity, Liane Donnelly, stated that concert facilities would be constructed and installed at College Park from June 27 onwards.

MCD are set to announce the full lineup in the coming days.
