Ray Carey elected new AHSS convenor of TCDSU

Darragh Flood was also elected as TCDSU’s Sports Officer

Trinity College Dublin Students’ Union (TCDSU) have tonight elected Ray Carey as its new Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (AHSS) Faculty Convenor. Carey was uncontested for the position. The elections followed three students stepping down from their Part Time Officers (PTO) positions.

The first election to take place was for the position of AHSS Faculty Convenor, a role that up until this election was held by Rory Codd. Codd told Trinity News: “After almost three years of working within the SU, I decided it was time to resign in order to dedicate more time to my studies and other pursuits.”

Darragh Flood was elected the new TCDSU Sports Officer and will replace Róisín Harbinson. Speaking to Trinity News, TCDSU President Shane De Rís said Harbinson was stepping down “due to time commitment and to focus on her studies”. Darragh Flood was also uncontested in running for Sports Officer.

Leah Freeman also resigned her position as a Part-Time Officer within the Union, stepping down from the role of Student Parent Officer. However, this position was not contested by any members of council and remains vacant.
