The Specials and Walking on Cars to play Trinity Summer Series

Tickets go on sale today for first acts of Trinity Summer Series 2020

The Specials and Walking on Cars are the first headline acts to be announced as part of the Trinity Summer Series 2020.

Walking on Cars are set to perform in College Park on Friday July 4, with The Specials following them the day after on Saturday July 5.

Tickets go on sale today, Friday November 15, for both acts. Ticket prices are €59.50 for The Specials and €49.90 for Walking on Cars.

The Specials are currently touring their new album “Encore” , their first for 37 years, and have sold out three gigs at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin.

The English ska band first formed in 1977 and reformed in 1993 following a break.

The Irish Indie Pop band Walking on Cars have also been touring recently and have been announced as headliners for this year’s Dublin New Year’s Festival.

Since forming in 2010 Walking on Cars have released two albums. Their first album “Everything This Way” reached number one in Ireland while the second album “Colours” was released in April.

Next year’s Trinity Summer Series will mark the fourth year of the event, which was first run in 2016.

The event is organised in partnership between the promotion company MCD Productions and Trinity’s Commercial Revenue Unit.

Last year’s Summer Series drew large crowds, with over 35,000 people visiting campus during the first week of July to attend the show. Each of the seven concerts attracted approximately 5,000 people throughout the week.

Hosting the event has been a welcome source of income for College, who have described it as a “key funding stream for the Provost’s scholarship programme”.
