Leaving Certificate results will be released on September 2

A delayed start to the academic year for first year students is expected

This year’s Leaving Certificate students will receive their examination results on September 2, the State Examinations Commission (SEC) has announced.

In a statement, the SEC claimed that a number of factors have caused the delayed release in examination results.

These include the deferred sitting of the examinations, the commitment to results not being lower than in the previous year and the shortfall of teachers that applied to mark Leaving and Junior Certificate exam papers.

Other reasons cited were the range of checks and quality assurance procedures to ensure that the “highest standards possible” are maintained.

131,000 candidates have taken their Leaving Certificate examinations this year – an increase of 6% since the last time a full set of examinations were held in 2019.
