Burkean Journal to expand to UCD and DCU

The conservative publication is also considering expansion to UCC, UL and NUIG

The conservative publication The Burkean Journal is to expand to University College Dublin (UCD) and Dublin City University (DCU), in a report by the University Observer. Founded in Trinity, the magazine intends to expand to “all Irish universities”.

The conservative publication was launched in September 2017 and has covered both Trinity, national and international issues, as well as publishing articles by well-known conservatives such as Cora Sherlock, a pro-life leader.

The expansion consists of having on-campus ambassadors for the publication while the editors told the University Observer that it will “still be… predominantly Trinity-based”. The publication is privately funded, with previous donors including Declan Ganley.

The publication’s aim is “to provide an intellectual platform and a publishing service for students to contribute their conservative views on local and general issues that are not otherwise represented by mainstream publications on their campuses”.
