Discount deals printed on the Trinity College Dublin Students’ Union (TCDSU) Ents card have been found to be incorrect. TCDSU released a statement on their Ents Facebook page tonight, outlining the mistakes.
The Ents card offers Trinity students a number of discounts in various establishments, all of which are located across Dublin. The deals are organised under three headings: food and drink, nightclub and miscellaneous. The special offers for two restaurants, Wagamamas and Captain Americas, were never updated from last year, meaning they are now incorrect.
The Student Unions’ Facebook page stated that the deals for the Captain Americas drinks are incorrect.The card states that students can purchase selected cocktails for €3 and pints for €3.50 between Monday and Wednesday, but the actual offer is €4 on the pints and cocktails.
A Wagamamas deal is also incorrect on the card. The card offers a buy-one-get-one free main course to students on weekdays, when the offer is actually a 20% discount of items on their main menu on Monday and Thursday.
The statement on the Ents Facebook page said: “We would like to point out that this fault lies with Trinity Ents, not the restaurants who have issued the deals.”
TCDSU Ents Officer, Jonah Craig, told Trinity News that these are the only mistakes they know of on the card. The mistakes are due to “a miscommunication” to TCDSU’s designer when handling the Student Union’s excel spreadsheet, Craig said.
As for whether the card will be reprinted, Craig is currently unsure. He stated he will be meeting with both the TCDSU President and the TCDSU Communication & Marketing Officer, Kevin Keane and Una Harty, to discuss the possibility of reprinting.
“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to any student trying to redeem on of these offers”, Craig stated on behalf of TCDSU.
He added that he will looking to establish additional deals with more restaurants “to make up for this mistake”.
