Four of Trinity’s postgraduate courses have been shortlisted for the 2019 gradireland Higher Education Awards 2019 in five different categories.
The contenders are the MPhil in Literary Translation for Postgraduate Course of the year in Arts & Humanities; the M.Sc. in Hospital Pharmacy for Postgraduate Course of the Year Award in Health Sciences; the Online M.Sc. / Postgraduate Diploma in Managing Risk and System Change for Best New Course and the MSc in Human Resource Management for both Postgraduate Course of the Year in Business, Finance & Management and Best New Course.
Speaking to Trinity News, Course Director of the MPhil in Literary Translation James Hadley said that this is the second time the course has been shortlisted and that it is “the only one of its kind in Ireland”. Hadley continued to note that “the course brings together the academic and theoretical study of how texts are translated between languages with skill-based practical workshops aimed at producing the translators of the future”.
The Online M.Sc. / Postgraduate Diploma in Managing Risk and System Change is an intensive and predominantly practical course that focuses on safety-critical industries on a global scale. It caters mainly towards people who are already in a work environment and are responsible for managing risk, change, safety, quality, planning and system design.
Speaking to Trinity News, Course Director Siobhán Corrigan explained that “right from the outset expectations were high and the programme has exceeded those expectations as is evident from the high calibre of students the programme has attracted, their testimonials and in the global reach of the programme”. She continued to note that “being shortlisted for this award is testament to the innovative and cutting edge programme we offer’’.
The M.Sc. in Hospital Pharmacy is the longest running hospital pharmacy postgraduate programme in Ireland. It provides students the guidance of an assigned tutor and numerous opportunities to work with professionals in the area.
Finally, the MSc in Human Resource Management combines research and practice, with a focus on applying theory in practice with either a research dissertation or a company-based project in organizations in the real world.
The awards are set to take place on November 23 in Santry.
