Nina Nesbitt has appeared to reveal that she will play “Trinity Hall” on April 12, the date of this year’s Trinity Ball, as part of her upcoming The Sun Will Come Up UK tour. The singer announced a UK and Ireland tour on Monday via Twitter in which she included the Dublin date. The announcement has since been deleted.
The incident follows a similar occurrence last year in which George Ezra included Trinity Ball as one of his tour dates in an email to fans before the official lineup of the ball had been released. Ezra subsequently headlined the event.
David Flood, Trinity College Dublin Students’ Union (TCDSU) Ents Officer, did not respond to a request for comment at the time of publication.
The tour is named after Nesbitt’s most recent album “The Sun Will Come Up, the Seasons Will Change”. This is the Scottish native’s second album, following her debut “Peroxide” in 2013.
This year’s date for Trinity Ball has also sparked controversy. In October a petition was launched to change the April 12 date amid concerns that it takes place just over a week from the start of the summer exam period.
