This Week in Trinity: Fifth Week

It’s Mental Health and the week before Halloween so there are plenty of quirky and relaxing events to hit up

As we head into the fifth week at Trinity the societies show no sign of slowing down with a whole host of fun and informative events lined up for this week.

Mental Health Week  kicks off on Monday with a workshop on How to Support a Friend in the Global Room at 3pm. On Tuesday, there’s a useful workshop as essay season begins to hit: Burnout and Self Care at 7pm in the Atrium.

If that isn’t enough for you then there’s the ‘Stitch n’ Bitch’ at 5pm in the Eliz rooms. The highly anticipated puppy room is on Wednesday in the Global Room at 11.30am and there’s a mindful party on later ‘Chille Ville’ in the Eliz Rooms at 4pm.

To round off the week there’s ‘Pablo Picant Cope’ at the Pav at 4pm with coupons being given for Pablo Picante restaurants.

The Phil’s debate on Thursday discusses whether conservatism is incompatible with the LGBT Movement and on Wednesday the Hist argue whether science needs ethics. If you’re up for some more discussion, TED Talks look at diversity and responsibility and its impact on business on Wednesday.

The Hist will welcome journalist John Pilger on Thursday, who will be speaking about his experience documenting conflict areas. On Tuesday DU Music is entertaining Jenny Greene from 2fm. Thursday evening holds a special event where the memory of Savita Halappanaver will be remembered and the 8th Amendment will be reflected on as part of Repeal Day.

If sitting in the library has just become too agonizing then there’s loads of fun stuff on this week to destress, Europa society will be having a beer and waffle tasting tonight, free for all members so go get your fair share!

Tonight at 7pm Russian Soc and Lit Soc have paired up to give you readings from Russian literature in the Global Room, where there will also be music and Russian snacks.

On Thursday, DUPA are doing a night time photo walk but if photography isn’t your thing then VDP are doing their annual mystery tour. To get you in the spirit for Halloween there’ll also be Pumpkin carving at 4pm on Thursday.
