Trinity College Dublin (TCD) has ranked 81st in the Times Higher Education (THE) rankings for arts and humanities. This places Trinity first out of the nine universities in the Republic of Ireland and has risen 7 places from last years ranking.
Trinity ranked highest for International Outlook at 81.5%, and scored 50% for Teaching. College scored 47.5% for Citations, 41.3% for Research and 35% for Industry Income.
Stanford University ranked first, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University. Oxford University ranked first in the United Kingdom (U.K) at fourth in the world.
University College Dublin (UCD) ranked between 151-175, with Dublin City University (DCU) and University College Cork (UCC) placing between 201-205. National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) ranked between 251-300 and University of Limerick (UL) and Maynooth University ranked between 301-400.
The THE World Rankings use the same 13 indicators used in the overall World University Rankings, where Trinity ranked 117th, rising 14 places from the previous year.
The rankings examine each university under 5 pillars: Teaching, research, citations, industry income, and international outlook, where the THE says that “the methodology has been recalibrated to suit the individual fields”.
