UCD Smurfit business school open new €5 million development centre

The new executive development centre offers over 50 customised and open enrolment courses

A new 5 million executive development centre has opened at the University College Dublin Smurfit School of Business, following a five-year investment programme. The Smurfit Business School is located in Blackrock. The Centre was opened by Dr. Michael WJ Smurfit, its leading benefactor.

The new executive development centre offers over 50 customised and open enrolment courses. The new centre will be an addition to the School, which is the only business school in Ireland to hold the ‘triple crown’ of accreditation from the UK (AMBA), Europe (EQUIS) and the United States (AACSB).

Their business programmes have been ranked in the prestigious Economist Rankings and Top 100 Financial Times.

The opening marks the apparent trend of investment in Business Schools. Trinity College is currently  developing  their business school, valued at €70 million. University College Cork’s  Business School is also undergoing an expansion, which is set to be the biggest in the country according to Patrick O’Shea, President of University College Cork.

Speaking about his investment in the business school, Founding Benefactor, Dr. Michael WJ Smurfit said: ‘The greatest natural resources we have in Ireland is our people. It’s all about the people of this country and I believe in the people of this country’.
