Max Lynch elected TCDSU ents officer

Lynch received 58.1% of first preferences and was elected on the second count

Max Lynch has been elected Trinity College Dublin Students’ Union’s (TCDSU) next entertainments officer with 58.1% of the vote.

Receiving 922 votes or 44% of first preferences in the first count and 58.1% on the second, Lynch beat out fellow candidates Nadia and Ross Donnelly. They received 493 and 611 votes respectively.

Speaking to Trinity News after the election, Lynch said: “I’d like to thank my entire campaign team … everyone who has helped me this far. It has been a stressful but a really fun experience. I can’t wait to be Ents Officer next year.”

Lynch’s campaign centred around many of the same issues as his opp Lonents: safety, accessibility, and sustainability. He also placed a strong emphasis on offering a wide range of events to the student body, with non-alcoholic events such as film screenings and concerts mentioned. Lynch is currently captain of the Surf Club and a member of DUDJ.

In Trinity News’ poll last week, Lynch held a lead of 44.8% to Nadia’s 27.6% and Donnelly’s 24.2%. At the time, a strong majority (70.7%) of students polled were decided on how they planned to the race.

Lynch will take over from incumbent Greg Arrowsmith during the summer.
