Linda Doyle announces release of clothing line with COS

The Provost is known for her generous patronage of the COS shop on Wicklow Street

Provost Linda Doyle has today announced the upcoming release of a clothing line collaboration with Scandinavian modernist corporate attire outlet COS.

The collaboration will feature a line of outfits “designed for 21st century women in academia” and will be released on April 22. On offer includes various dresses “perfect to lead a lecture” and suits that “command a classroom”.

Select items from the line will go on presale tomorrow, with one pair of black cotton socks retailing for €19.99, and a basic white shirt going for €149.99.

“Quite the bargain!”, a regular shopper at COS Wicklow St said in a statement to Trinity News.

The release day coincides with Trinity Monday “to highlight the close bond between the college community and COS’ flagship store in Ireland on Wicklow Street, just a stone’s throw away from 1 Grafton Street, the Provost’s residence”.

The Provost is admired by the student body for her on-campus street style, often donning COS clothing to high-brow events or while walking around campus. Last year, she starred in an Instagram reel for the Trinity Fashion Society (Fashion Soc) which gained over 30,000 views.

Here she was asked to list three of her most treasured clothing items, two of which were from COS. “COS is one of my favourite places, I just love the shape of the clothes that they have”, she said in the video.

She added that “everything goes with Docs”. Her office declined to comment if we are to expect a similar collab with Doc Martens on Grafton Street, but an anonymous source said: “big things coming soon”.

The Provost is a former professor of electrical engineering and former Chairperson of the Douglas Hyde Gallery, the contemporary art gallery off Nassau Street.

Benefitting from these experiences, she co-designed a dress that features a working fuse circuit in an abstract design on the bodice of the dress.

“Perfect for the everyday”, the same COS shopper said of the innovative outfit.

The Provost has not been contacted for comment, and neither has COS Wicklow Street.
