Taoiseach Leo Varadkar will open Trinity’s new Business School at a ceremony on May 23. The opening of the new building will mark the end of a five year long project to develop the site,costing Trinity €80 million.
College received permission to build the new Trinity Business School in 2015. The new building is over 11,300 metres squared and is comprised of eight storeys, with six above ground and two below.
Opening onto Pearse Street, the new building includes a 600-seat auditorium, a rooftop conference room and 140-seat lecture hall, alongside several smaller lecture theatres and “smart classrooms”. It is a near-zero energy building, containing natural ventilation, solar panels, and two green walls on the outside in keeping with College’s sustainability policy.
The building will also house Trinity’s Ideas Workspace, also known as “Tangent”, as well as a restaurant named “Forum”, that will be operated by Sodexo Ireland, the current catering company of the Perch Café in the Arts Block.
The official opening of the new Trinity Business School building has been scheduled to coincide with the Trinity Business + Technology Forum. This annual forum seeks to address the key challenges facing business and society. The forum will be taking place in the new Trinity Business School.
The forum will feature headline speakers, Carolyn Fairbairn, Director General of the Confederation of British Industry who will speak on “Business after Brexit”, Kathleen O’Toole, former Chief Inspector of An Garda Siochána Inspectorate who will speak on the “Business of Policing”, and Philip Lane, Governor of the Irish Central Bank.
