Clara Roche elected editor of the University Times with 79.65% of the vote

Roche is expected to take over from current Editor Ailbhe Noonan this summer

Clara Roche has been elected the next editor of the University Times (UT), with 79.65% of the vote.

Re-open nominations received 270 of first ballot votes, while Roche received 2429 amount of votes.

Speaking to Trinity News following the election, Roche said: “Thank you so much to all of my campaign team and thank you to everyone who voted for me. I’m so excited to get back into UT next year.”

“I’m really grateful to all of my team.”

Roche was the Deputy Editor of UT earlier this year, before senior staff moved to impeach current editor Ailbhe Noonan. Staff were unable to remove the editor due to constitutional barriers, and Noonan sacked four senior staff members following the calls for her impeachment.
